How to a Healthy Lifestyle

While those four habits are indisputably important for a healthy lifestyle, some may argue that more factors should be taken into consideration. What would be on your list?
Just for fun, I came up with my own personal top 10 list of healthy behaviors (beyond the four basics) that contribute to wellness and satisfaction with one's lifestyle:

  • Brush and floss daily to keep your teeth and gums healthy and free of disease.
  • Get a good night's rest. Well-rested people not only cope better with stress, but may also have better control of their appetites. Research has shown that a lack of sleep can put our "hunger hormones" out of balance -- and possibly trigger overeating.
  • Enjoy regular family meals. This allows parents to serve as good role models, can promote more nutritious eating, and sets the stage for lively conversations. Being connected to family and/or friends is a powerful aspect of a healthy life.
  • Smile and laugh out loud several times a day. It keeps you grounded, and helps you cope with situations that would otherwise make you crazy. Read the comics, watch a sitcom, or tell jokes to bring out those happy feelings.
  • Meditate, pray, or otherwise find solace for at least 10-20 minutes each day. Contemplation is good for your soul, helps you cope with the demands of daily life, and may even help lower your blood pressure.
  • Get a pedometer and let it motivate you to walk, walk, walk. Forget about how many minutes of activity you need; just do everything you can to fit more steps into your day. No matter how you get it, physical activity can help defuse stress, burn calories, and boost self-esteem.
  • Stand up straight. You'll look 5 pounds lighter if you stand tall and tighten your abdominal muscles. Whenever you walk, think "tall and tight" to get the most out of the movement.
  • Try yoga. The poses help increase strength and flexibility and improve balance. These are critical areas for older folks especially, and both men and women can benefit.
  • Power up the protein. This nutrient is an essential part of your eating plan, and can make up anywhere from 10%-35% of your total calories. Protein lasts a long time in your belly; combine it with high-fiber foods and you'll feel full on fewer calories. Enjoy small portions of nuts, low-fat dairy, beans, lean meat, poultry, or fish.
  • Last but not least, have a positive attitude. Do your best to look at life as if "the glass is half full." You must believe in yourself, have good support systems, and think positively ("I think I can, I think I can…") to succeed.

How to Make Sushi

  1. Rinse the rice 5 times, then drain in a colander and let dry for 15 minutes.
  2. Cook the rice in a rice cooker according to the manufacturer's instructions. Alternatively, in a medium saucepan, combine the rice with 2 cups of cold water and bring to a boil over high heat. Cover and cook over moderate heat for 10 minutes. Reduce the heat to low and cook for 10 minutes longer. Remove from the heat and let stand, covered, for 15 minutes.
  3. Meanwhile, in a small saucepan, combine the sake-mash vinegar, rice vinegar, sugar and salt and warm over moderate heat, stirring to dissolve the sugar.
  4. Transfer the rice to a very large bowl. Sprinkle 1/2 cup of the seasoned vinegar all over the rice: Drizzle onto a spatula while waving the spatula back and forth. Using a slicing motion with the spatula, gently separate the rice grains while mixing in the seasoning. Fan the rice while mixing it to help it dry. Wipe down any stray grains from the side of the bowl. Cover the rice with a damp towel to keep warm.

Notes

Maki Sushi Fillings:
Crab: Meat from Dungeness, blue or king crabs is best. Pick over the meat for bits of shell.
Tuna: If a piece of tuna is sinewy, simply scrape the meat off the sinews with a sharp knife.
Salmon: Slice salmon across the grain into strips about 4 inches long and 1/4 inch thick.
Cucumber: Seed a cucumber, then slice it--including some of the skin--into a thin julienne.
Avocado: Cut a ripe Hass avocado in half. Carefully strike the pit with the blade of a heavy chef's knife, then twist the knife to remove the pit. Peel the halves, then cut them into 1/4-inch-thick slices.

Benefits of Mineral Water

1. Lose Weight
Any type of water including mineral water contains no calories and is fat free. When trying to lose weight, many people forget to consider the calories found in the most popular drinks such as soda and juice and these calories can make it difficult to achieve weight loss or even maintain a goal weight.
2. Improve Bone Health
After menopause women suffer from a gradual bone loss but this can be controlled by simply having mineral water on a regular basis.
3. Lower Blood Pressure
The magnesium found in mineral water can also play an important role in maintaining a normal blood pressure level. One study found that patients with hypertension who consumed one liter of bottled mineral water showed a decrease in blood pressure over time.
4. Lower LDL Cholesterol
LDL cholesterol is the bad cholesterol and is one of the largest factors for developing heart problems. People who drink mineral water regularly will notice a large reduction in their risk of developing heart disease.
5. Aid Digestion
Mineral water is also a great source of sulfates which help promote digestion. That is because sulfates stimulate the pancreas so it releases enzymes such as amylases, proteases and lipases that help digest food properly. Low sulfate levels can cause poor digestive health or even bloating, constipation or diarrhea.
6. Maintain Muscle Performance
Mineral water that is rich in magnesium may also help play a key role in the function of muscles. That is because magnesium is an essential mineral for our bodies as it allows muscles to relax and contract properly. That is why muscle aches and cramps are one of the signs of magnesium deficiency.
7. Maintain Electrolyte Balance
Electrolytes are salts (bicarbonate, chloride, potassium and sodium) which prevent dehydration by helping the cells of the body absorb water. Because mineral water can be a great source of electrolytes, those who experience an electrolyte imbalance are frequently asked to consume mineral water in order to replenish their electrolyte loss.
8. Reduce Kidney Stone Risk
Doctors recommend increasing your intake of fluids in order to help prevent kidney stones and the best choice is mineral water. Usually kidney problems take place because of calcium oxalate kidney stones but when you consume mineral water that has adequate amounts of calcium and magnesium it can help decrease the concentration of calcium oxalate.
9. Better Your Skin
Mineral water can help better your skin because of its high quantities of silica which can strengthen the spongy cells that are found between elastin and collagen fibers as well as slow down wrinkle formation. Simply drinking mineral water will help your skin but you can also use it in your beauty regime. One great way is to cleanse your face, then wipe your face using a cotton ball soaked in mineral water and finish with your moisturizer
10. Other Benefits
-          Mineral water can help breakdown waste materials in the body as well as cleanse it of toxins.
-          Many of the mineral waters available have therapeutic effects that can ease or cure multiple chronic diseases and conditions.
-          Mineral water can also help relieve the pains and aches associated with rheumatism and arthritis by reducing inflammation and swelling of the muscles and joints.

The Synopsis of Short Story of The Story of an Eyewitness

The short story talks about earthquake and conflagration in San Francisco. Upon receipt of the first news of the earthquake, Collier’s (who has Collier’s the National Weekly) telegraphed to Mr. Jack London-who lives forty miles from San Francisco-requesting him to go to the scene of disaster and write the story of what he saw. The earthquake shooks down in San Francisco. Not just that, the conflagration that followed burned up the city. The modern imperial city has been so completely destroyed. Nothing remains of it. Within minutes of the earthquake the fires began.  Within an hour a huge tower of smoke caused by the fires could be seen a hundred miles away.  And for three days and nights this huge fire moved in the sky, reddening the sun, darkening the day and filling the land with smoke.
